Treatments

What we look at, and what we do.

Symptoms, constitution and current state are read together to set the direction of care. Below are the areas we mainly look at, and the means used along the way.

A first consultation

A first visit begins with looking rather than treating — pulse, posture, movement, and the pattern of your days. From what that shows, we decide the direction of care together and explain what the following visits would involve.

  • A first visit takes longer than a follow-up; please allow for that when booking
  • English is spoken throughout the consultation
  • If a single visit is all your trip allows, say so — we plan around it

Facial acupuncture

Facial asymmetry, puffiness, slackness and the lines that come with them are assessed along with the neck and shoulders, then worked with using fine needles and manual technique. Expression, tension and posture are read as one thing.

  • The face, neck, shoulders and posture are checked before any needling
  • Needle strength is adjusted to your constitution and how you are that day
  • Temporary bruising is explained beforehand

Herbal medicine

Formulas are decided from constitution, current state and the pattern of daily life — not from the symptom alone. Digestion, metabolism, appetite, sleep and fatigue are read together, and the prescription is adjusted as that picture changes.

  • Constitution and daily pattern are established before anything is prescribed
  • Formulas are adjusted partway as your state changes
  • How to eat and sleep alongside the medicine is explained

Pain, posture and movement

Neck, shoulder and lower back pain, long-standing musculoskeletal complaints and limits in posture and movement are assessed, then worked with using acupuncture, chuna manual therapy and manual approaches to the body.

  • Movement and posture are assessed before the direction is set
  • Cranial, visceral and lymphatic manual approaches may be used alongside

back pain · shoulder tension · posture · chuna · fascia

Sleep, stress and recovery

Difficulty sleeping, tension, headaches and fatigue are examined together with the physical signs that accompany them — the quality of sleep, how the day goes, temperature and circulation.

  • Your sleep pattern and how your days run are asked about first
  • Herbal medicine and adjustments to daily rhythm are used together

sleep · stress · fatigue · circulation

The means we use

Acupuncture and pharmacopuncture

Points and areas are chosen from the Korean medical assessment.

Chuna and manual therapy

Muscle, fascia, joints and movement are assessed, and manual technique is used where needed.

Herbal medicine

Prescribed with symptom, constitution, daily pattern and current state taken together.

Care for recovery

Breathing, release and daily management are brought into the plan where they belong.

Singing bowls, meditation and aromatherapy are wellness programmes offered by DOHO Wellness, which is separate from medical treatment here.
